Maple Grove Family Dental
Melanie E. White, D.D.S.
Dr. White's experience in the dental field started long before her graduation from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2001. All of her work and volunteer experiences were in the medical field, including the Madison AIDS Support Network, a birthing center and a home health organization. During her undergrad work, Dr. White loved to page through her roommate's medical text books. While she enjoyed studying psychology, she longed for a more medically technical career path. After graduating with her Bachelor of Arts-Psychology (with Honors) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1992 she landed a job at River Bluff Dental. While working in the front office, she realized dental assisting would balance her love of people along with her desire for a health related job.

"It was there that I got my first taste of watching families grow. I enjoyed hearing about the first day of school, the high school graduations, and announcements of new babies. Hearing about major life events while being trusted to care for my patient's oral health is a combination that brings me great joy. I am also drawn to the creativity and artistry involved in dentistry. Patient health, family growth, and a creative side makes dentistry my true calling," says Dr. White.

Rather than learning only one style of dentistry, Dr. White has rounded out her experience by working in large and small dental practices, as well as in public health.

"By working with family practices, a nursing home, a federal correctional institute, and more corporate dental settings, I have been able to learn many styles of dentistry. This has formed my approach of practice - giving the very best care within a patient's comfort level and budget," Dr. White comments.

When asked about her philosophy in dental care, Dr. White emphasizes that patient comfort comes first: "It's very important to me that a patient leaves my office feeling respected and cared for. I take a great deal of pride in my clinical and technical skills, however, unless you are trained in dentistry, you may not know what a good filling looks like. Everyone, however, knows if they were treated well. I want to provide exemplary care while taking the time to explain the services I offer and exploring all options with my patients." Dr. White is a member of American Dental Association, Wisconsin Dental Association, Dane County Dental Association, and Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. Dedicating herself to the Evansville community and growing the practice Dr. Nelson started are values Dr. White plans to embrace. She recently purchased a home here in Evansville. Dr. White loves nature and was attracted to the history of the area. As Evansville was called "the grove" when it was first founded in reference to the maple tree groves located in this area, Dr. White decided to name her practice Maple Grove Family Dental.

When she isn't attending to the needs of her patients and practice you can find Dr. White cooking with her husband Bill, gardening, or spending time with her family. Dr. White is an avid Badger fan enjoying the likes of football and hockey. Attending live music events, photography and traveling are other hobbies Dr. White enjoys.
